Professional and Educational Experience

Game and interactive media student at ADA
January 2022 - Present
I started school at the Academy of Digital Arts in Cape Town January 2022. As an online student I was trained in game theory, game scripting, game technology and game graphics. I loved learning about all the parts needed to create a good game and especially liked working with the 3D software Blender to create game assets.
During the year I had lots of opportunities working in leadership roles for our class projects and I was the class team lead for our live project which we did for Emerge Gaming.
For my final project I created a game for a real client, Pebbles Project. It is an educational sound recognition game used to teach preschoolers to distinguish between different animals.
After studying at ADA I am exited to start my professional career in game development.
Student and Freelance Artist
April 2021-December 2021
When I got the opportunity to change my career I moved back home to my parents and started studying online. During this time I took a courses in both Java and JavaScript - both of which I consider myself moderately comfortable coding in. I also did many different art commissions during this time for different individuals; whose testimonials you will find on the homepage. I felt myself come to life during this period as I learned these new skills and investigated new career opportunities.
Just Style Me Hair Studio Hairstylist
January 2021 - April 2021
I took the job at Just Style Me Hair Studio as it was located closer to where I was living at the time. While there I was trained in new techniques for both hair colouring and cutting. I was only there for a short time, however, as an opportunity arrived for me to change careers and study.
Shyloks Hairstylist
June 2020 - December 2020
Once lockdown restrictions eased I was employed at Shyloks Hair Studio in Melkbosstrand. While there I worked in a lovely team and enjoyed expressing my creativity on my numerous clients' hair.
Cruise Ship Hair Stylist
April 2017 - March 2020
Working for One Spa World (previously Steiner) I had the opportunity of visiting many different ports and got extensive experience working in teams- both large and small. While on board I was trained in different management techniques and breaking down challenges and problems to reach targets. I learned to communicate with people of many different cultures and personalities, and learned to be a great team player. My contract was cut short due to an injury on board, and before I fully recovered Covid lockdown restrictions forced me to pursue a land based career.
